Military Support Group

First Baptist Church Georgetown greatly appreciates the dedicated service of our military men and women who are defending freedom at home and abroad.The Military Support Group’s purpose is to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support and encouragement to the families of military personnel involved in every branch of service. Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm in the choir room (towards the back and beneath the Worship Center).
What occurs at a Military Support Group Meeting?
- Prayer for those on active and inactive duty.
- Notes and letters of encouragement are written to those currently serving stateside and abroad.
- Guest speakers include veterans, chaplains, and recent tour returnees, with a positive perspective, things you won’t hear in the national news.
- Special package mailings during holidays.
Recent Meetings
During June’s meeting, Nancy O’Meara-Krenek, executive director of the Ride on Center for Kids (R.O.C.K.), visited the MSG. R.O.C.K. provides services to people with many different disabilities and challenges including amputations, autism, brain injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and Multiple Sclerosis as well as to at-risk students. They improve the lives of the special needs population of Williamson and surrounding counties. They are currently working alongside the 1st Calvary Division and Horse Calvary Detachment from Fort Hood with a program to help injured soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
