Verses to read:

• Exodus 25:8
• Hebrews 10:1–25
• Matthew 6:31–34
• 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

The people had been so focused on what they were striving to accomplish that they missed focusing on the Lord. Take some time to write down the things in your life that have become priorities over the Lord. Confess these things to the Lord and ask Him to show you how to realign your life with a focus on pursuing Him above everything else.

The tabernacle and temple in the Old Testament were places for the glory of the Lord to dwell among His people (Exodus 25:8; 1 Kings 8:1–11;). Jesus came to provide a way for the Lord to dwell among His people without the need for a building (Hebrews 10:1–25; 1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Haggai was focused on the people living out the conviction that the Lord is worthy of everything and rebuilding the temple was a way of expressing this conviction in the supremacy of the Lord. As a believer in Jesus Christ, what are some outward ways of living that can be reminders and reflect a heart of reverence and honoring of the Lord?

What has the Lord put on your heart to do that you have neglected to do? What are the barriers keeping you from walking in obedience? What is a step of faith you have taken? How has the Lord shown His faithfulness in this step of faith? Spend some time praising the Lord for His faithfulness in these circumstances.

Ask the Lord to reveal to you any other priorities in your life that are off and praise Him for caring enough to reveal these things to you.
