GO DEEPER

Read Colossians 3:1–4.

What are some things that hinder your ability to set your heart and mind on things above?

What are some things that encourage and strengthen your ability to set your heart and mind on things above?

Who are some people who help you set your heart and mind on things above?

Read Matthew 7:1–5.

What does this passage say about how we are to approach others when we see sin in their lives?

What should be the response to sin and brokenness in our own life before we address other people?

Read Colossians 3:15–17.

As you seek to allow the Word of Christ to dwell in you richly, you can begin by reading the Bible on your own. A good place to start is the book of John in the New Testament. You can read a few verses or a chapter a day and answer the following three questions:

What does this passage say about who Jesus is?

What does this passage say about what Jesus does?

What does this passage say about how I should respond to who Jesus is and what He does?

Who is in your life that you intentionally invite to gently caution you and point you toward what the Bible says is true?

What are the small group communities you are growing in to provide close community?

Evaluate your growth in the four avenues we talk about as important for each of us to be growing in. Write out how you are growing and a goal of growth for each of these avenues.

Personal relationship with Jesus

One-on-one relationships

Formal training opportunities (worship services, discipleship classes, men’s and women’s studies, etc.)

Small group community
