The Ephesian church was made up of Jews and Gentiles, two people groups from very different backgrounds. What type of people do you come across on a weekly basis that have very different backgrounds than you?

Why do you think people tend to move away from people who are different than they are and move toward people who are similar?

Read Ephesians 4:1–6.

How can we “live a life worthy of our calling” as Paul mentions in the beginning of chapter four? How does he describe that
worthy life?

Take another look at verses 4–6. Why do you think Paul emphasizes “oneness” so much?

Do you think our church is unified? Why or why not?

If you do, what factors have helped make our church unified? If you don’t, what is keeping us from being more unified?

Read Colossians 3:2–4.

What are similarities between this passage and Ephesians 4:1–6?

Why do you think Paul said some of the same things to two different churches?

What is one practical step you can take to “bear with one another”?
