Mission New York
What is Mission New York?
The 2007 mission trip was our sixth mission trip to New York City where we worked in partnership with Southern Baptist Missionary Taylor Field at East 7th Baptist Church and Graffiti Community Ministries.
The purpose is to glorify Jesus Christ by sharing the gospel and by serving in whatever ways we’re needed alongside the missionary and Graffiti volunteers who minister there year round.
This is accomplished through a variety of ministry projects including after-school tutoring, providing financing and helping to prepare and serve a Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, serving F.L.I.P. (Free Lunch in the Park) assisting with ongoing ministries at an area nursing home and Wednesday evening meal and Bible Study and ‘other duties as assigned.’
Our mission involves ordinary people being used by God to accomplish extraordinary things.
Goals of Mission New York
- To spread the good news of Jesus Christ through every ministry project.
- To glorify God and extend a positive Christian witness by our attitudes, actions, and appearance.
- To assist Graffiti in reaching the people in their neighborhood for Jesus and for future ministry involvement.
- To facilitate growth in spiritual maturity and in ministry skills in the life of each participant.
- To encourage and support the missionaries, Graffiti workers, and fulltime volunteers.
Theme Verse
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.”
(Ephesians 3:20 - 21)
