Journey Between the Times: A Study of the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120–134)
Leader: Karen Hundley
Starts: Wednesday morning, September 13
Length: Eight weeks
Time: Coffee café opens at 9:00 a.m. Study from 9:30–11:30 a.m.
Location: E2 first floor (Room TBD)
Cost: $10
Register here.

Between the times we commit our lives to Christ and our deaths or His return, we walk a path of Christianity. We seek to grow spiritually, to bear fruit for Christ’s Kingdom and to undergo sanctification. Our pilgrimage parallels the Jews’ trips to Jerusalem three times a year when they sang 14 songs — the Psalms of Ascent.

This study is a hybrid-type of study with a book, videos and personal reflection:

We will study Psalms 120–134 and watch videos of Beth Moore’s discussion of the Jews' feasts and pilgrimages.

We will reflect on Christian growth by reading and discussing a book on the Psalms of Ascent — "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction" by Eugene Peterson. (We will not do the Beth Moore workbook.)

We will trace our own personal spiritual journey as we work out our salvation and follow the path to sanctification.

"Seamless" covers the people, places and promises of the Bible, tying them together into the greater story of Scripture. This study is biblically rooted and gospel-centered, weaving together and connecting both Old and New Testaments.

"Seamless" helps replace insecurity that sometimes holds us back from studying the Bible with clarity and confidence in understanding of Scriptures. Each week features key information that ties all of Scripture together into the seamless truth of the gospel message and is accompanied by maps, general Bible facts and word studies.

Finding and Replacing Your Idols: A Study Through the Book of Counterfeit Gods, by Timothy Keller
Leader: Kasie Noble
Starts: Wednesday morning, September 13
Length: Eight weeks
Time: Coffee café opens at 9:00 a.m. Study from 9:30–11:30 a.m.
Location: E2 first floor (Room TBD)
Cost: $8
Register here.

It is impossible to understand yourself or culture if you do not discern the counterfeit gods that influence them.

Every human being must live for something. Something must capture our imaginations, our heart's most fundamental allegiance and hope. But the Bible tells us without the intervention of the Holy Spirit, that object will never be God Himself. In fact, it calls the human heart an idol factory, constantly churning out idols.

Guided by Timothy Keller's "Counterfeit Gods," we will:

Uncover the most common idols, and their feeding sources.

Learn how those idols manifest in our daily lives.

Create a plan to replace our idols with the lasting God.
